The book begins with three critical essays by Miquel Adrià, Aaron Betsky and Juan José Lahuerta, outlining the background and career of Josep Lluís Mateo, and analyzing his modes and strategies of architectural design. Illustrated with overall and detail drawings, digital models and color photographs of built works, the volume chronologically retraces the fundamental phases of the architect’s career from the 1980s to the 2006. Outstanding works include the home for the elderly in Campdevànol (Girona, 1994), the residences on Borneo Island in Amsterdam (2000), the house in Mallorca (2000), the Deutsche Bank headquarters in Chemnitz (2004), the office tower for the Consorcio Zona Franca in Barcelona (2005).
