The Barcelona Institute of Architecture (BIArch) celebrated its opening ceremony of the 2010-11 academic year the last Monday, September 13th, in the Auditorium of La Pedrera. The event featured a Master Class by Riken Yamamoto (one of the most prominet architects of contemporary Japan), titled “The City as Infrastructure + Facilities”.

Josep Lluís Mateo assisted at the celebration as the President of the Board of Directors of the Barcelona Institute of Architecture, an open laboratory for professionals and researchers that aims to promote new ways of thinking about architecture and designing, in face of technological, energetic, and economic conditions in permanent change.
Other personalities that assisted to La Pedrera were Narcís Serra, President of the Barcelona Institute of Architecture Foundation, and Andreu Mas-Colell, Secretary General of the European Research Counciland member of the Advisory Council of the Barcelona Institute of Architecture.
