On 18 March, Jean Grenet, Mayor of Bayonne, along with various figures from Bayonne City Council, Kaufman & Broad and Eiffage Construction, visited the offices of Mateo Arquitectura in Barcelona to see the latest progress of the project for Tête de Pont, a new gateway to the city of Bayonne (France).
The meeting was followed by a guided visit to some of Josep Lluís Mateo’s projects in Barcelona. The visit started at the remodelled offices in the Banc Sabadell block on Avinguda Diagonal, continued to the Forum to take in the Hotel AC Forum and Barcelona International Convention Centre, and ended at the site of the almost completed Film Theatre of Catalonia in the Raval district.

The Tête de Pont project is of great importance to the city, not just in terms of size (around 70,000 m2 of floor area) but also for its role as the new gateway to the city of Bayonne. It stands on the urban front of the river Adour in the vicinity of Henri Grenet Bridge, and its programme, laid out in two city blocks, includes: social and free-market housing, a shopping centre, a hotel, a home for the elderly, a small office sector and a car park.
