Lecture “Architecture and City: A Personal View” by Josep Lluís Mateo

During the first week of May, the Barcelona Institute of Architecture, BIArch, hosts the International Symposium City and Society in the Post-Industrial Glocal Age. The symposium is jointly organized by the BIArch, the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, the Schusev National Museum of Architecture, MUAR, the Center of Contemporary Architecture, CSA, and the Higher School of Economics, HSE, these three last institutions from Moscow.
The participants are experts, professors, young professionals, and students of architecture and economics. Following interdisciplinary intentions, the symposium is articulated around four working sessions, addressing the economic, social, productive, and architectural paradigms of the contemporary city and its future development.
The event will end up with a lecture (“Architecture and city: A personal view”) by Josep Lluís Mateo, President of the BIArch Board of Directors who will also introduce the common discussion on the main topics addressed during the symposium.
The Symposium is taking place at Barcelona Institute of Architecture, C/ Balmes 132-134, 3rd floor BIArch-Idec in Barcelona. From Thursday May 5th to Saturday May 7th 2011.
