Josep Lluís Mateo is taking part in the exhibition organized by the Catalonia and Balearic Islands Pavilion as part of the 13th Venice Architecture Biennale. “Vogadors”, or “Rowers”, presents nine works by young architects that place functionality before empty aesthetics, comparing them with works by prestigious architects to show that the style of a characteristic architecture is in fact a tradition.
Josep Lluís Mateo contributes to this exhibition the urban remodelling of the medieval village of Ullastret and the Filmoteca de Catalunya film theatre, presented as landmark projects, underpinning the concept of a specifically Catalan form of architecture.

Film Theatre of Catalonia
This is the first time that Catalonia and the Balearic Islands have participated in the Venice Architecture Biennale, promoted by the Institut Ramon Llull. The architects Jordi Badia and Félix Arranz are responsible for curating the event.
